Bereavement Group
The Legacy Guild launched their first session of Embracing the Struggles Together bereavement group in the Fall of 2024. With the guidance of a certified grief educator, widows and widowers came together in a safe space to discuss topics that only those experiencing grief can understand.. This group is open to all parents with children (toddlers through college age) who reside in the Lyons Township High School District 204 area who have lost a spouse. Sessions are held periodically through-out the year.
Details about the Group
We realize attending any type of support group for the first time can be overwhelming. We want to assure you that this is a welcoming, safe space for you. We keep the group small so that everyone can get to know each other and have a chance to share. Topics may include: solo parenting, how to find a path forward, building a support network, how to plan for your future, self-care and more.

“No one “wants” to attend a grief support group, however, the consensus from the attendees was that they were so grateful that they took the leap to join. All participants left feeling that they now had a support group of other widows who truly understand what they are going through.”
