(Western Springs, IL) – The Legacy Guild, a local nonprofit, raised over $190,000 (net) at its Spring Event held on April 30 to benefit area students who have lost a parent. Founded in 2012, The Legacy Guild has distributed over $1.3 million in college scholarships and offers mentoring to area students. Given the overwhelming success of this recent fundraiser, they are proud to announce an increase in their annual scholarship from $2,500 to $3,000 per student.

Russ Riberto, VP of the Legacy Guild board said, “This event was our largest ever with over 425 attendees. We were able to thank our longtime supporters and donors in person as well as introduce our mission to a new group of people in the community.”

Legacy Guild President Ryan Williamson of La Grange added, “This event is a great example of our community coming together to support students in the District 204 area. We are so grateful for the support of so many, and we are proud to be able to increase our annual scholarship commitment to our Scholars.”

The event was held at The Elm in downtown La Grange. The entire restaurant was reserved and guests enjoyed drinks, a delicious buffet dinner and LIVE music of both Wedding Banned and Jukebox JBC. Thanks to generous local businesses and individuals who donated items, guests were able to bid on both silent and LIVE auction packages and to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win wine and spirits baskets.

Additional highlights of the evening included:
  • Tareem Gibbs, one of our Scholar parents, shared her story and the positive impact our organization has had on her family.
  • Longtime supporters Tom & Kerry Nutter received our annual Community Champion Award for their generous support of local charitable organizations.
We are extremely grateful to all our sponsors.
