(Western Springs, IL) The Legacy Guild announced they raised over $75,000 (net) at their 11th annual golf outing held at the La Grange Country Club on September 29, 2022. This local nonprofit provides college scholarships and mentorships to students living in the Lyons Township District 204 area who have lost a parent.
Brian Oeltgen, golf outing co-chair, shared, “The first golf outing fundraiser took place in 2012. This year, we had 140 golfers participate, some as first timers and many who support the cause and play each year.”
Prior to golfing, attendees enjoyed a delicious lunch grilled on site by Monk’s Burgers and More. And with tradition, the event started with the annual parade of golfers to their holes. After attendees finished golfing, there were tacos and cocktails served at the 19th hole. On the course, golfers could win contests on selected holes for longest drive, closest to the pin and hole-in-one. Attendees could also purchase raffle tickets to win many fabulous items that were donated by local businesses and individuals.
“In addition to raising money for local students, this golf event is a wonderful way for people in our community to connect and bond together for a good cause.” Billy Carney, golf outing co-chair and Legacy Guild Immediate Past-President.”
This year, the outing included the return of the Women’s Tennis Drills event where four tennis pros taught a clinic for 16 women during the afternoon.
The Legacy Guild is also grateful to all supporters, especially the top sponsors for this event.
